Math is...

Math is used in everyday life.We use it in Sports, games, shopping,or even Math Class! Math is used in almost every activity because math is everything. Math is used mostly in Science because of all the calculations and notes you have to take. I use math when i play online games, or MMORPS(multi-media online role playing games) on the computer.Math helps everyone because it lets people understand other subjects such as science.

Popping Fun Lab

In Science Class a few weeks ago, we did a lab, called Popping Fun. This lab taught the kids how to mix compounds, to get a reaction. We had to mix baking soda with vinegar in a test tube, and try to get enough pressure in a test tube so we could shoot a cork across the room,to hit the window. The particular group I was in, tried to do this test about 4-5 times, before we figured out the combination. If i recall correctly, it was 25 vinegar 5 baking soda, but i am not sure on that.If we hit the window 3 times in a row, everyone in the group would get extra credit, and we all got extra credit.

Drilling for Oil

During Science class, we did an experiment where we had to drill for oil. First, we had to trace 3 different maps, and pick 4-5 different areas to drill around. Then we were given a sheet of paper, where we had to plot the spots where to dig in a box, and record our findings. Also we were given an amount of money we could spend. We were given a total of 2.5 million dollars to spend. We were given 5 trials to find 3 reservoirs of oil. On our first trail, we found oil. On our second, we stuck oil again. On our third trial, we didn't strike oil. On the fourth trial we got oil, and that was the final oil reservoir we had to find. After all the math we did, we came out to make around $51m.

In Class Post-

During class, we did a lab where we had to burn 2 cubes of sugar in a test tube. During this lab, we had to break up the sugar cube and then place it into a test tube, and then place it over a Bunsen burner, which melted the sugar into a bubbling liquid. After a short wait, the sugar turned solid, and then started to crack. In the end, this experiment was a fun thing to do during class.

Death Star is Back...

Death Star number 3 is not back and already in use. This is a nightmare right out of Star Wars itself. NASA scientists are calling this galaxy “Death Star Galaxy.” The “galaxy” itself is actually a black hole, shooting cosmic radiation out of its core. Scientists say that we are a safe 1.4 billion light-years away from the devious galaxy.
Researchers say that the galaxy has possibly destroyed millions of planets. All in all, the new destroyer galaxy is a wild find, and an amazing one at that and will certainly change our point of view on the universe.

Captain Kidd's Ship Found!

On December 14th 2007, Captain William Kidd's Ship was found off Catalina island, a small Dominican Republic island. Kidd was a notorious pirate, who invaded passing ships for any new items he could add to his collection of treasure. The pirate ship was found about 10 feet down and almost 70 feet off the coast.
"When I first looked down and saw it, I couldn't believe everybody missed it for 300 years," said Charles Beeker.
So for exactly 308 years, no one saw the cannons, or anchor with coral surrounding the dreaded Captain William Kidds Pirate Ship!

Class Event #2

In class, we made something, called ooblike(not exactly sure how to spell it)! In calss, we also watched a Mythbusters video, showing that people can't walk on pure wter, but if in constant motion, they could walk on ooblike. Our science teacher told us that in movies, special effects artists use this as a substitute for quicksand, because if moving fast over the top it will not suck down the object on top, but if slowed to a stop it will be sucked down like real quicksand. Here in the video from YouTube showing Adam Savage Walking on Water!

Growing in size, New Jersey is facing a fierce wild fire due to a stray flair that was fired from am m-16 rocket launcher testing an new flair that would normly have exploded in mid-flight, fell to the Militarys bomb range, As of now, on 5-18-07 authorities say that at least 75% of the fire has been contained. News reports say that the soil in the town doesn't contain water for very long so this may be a huge problem if the winds start back up and ignight the fire again. As of now authorities have managed to keep the fire in a contained area and it has not left that area for i know.

Millions of people around the world love and eat chicken everyday... Well can your favorite food be tainted? Well as of now the answer is yes. Chicken farmers around the world have figured out that they have been feeding their chickens the tainted pet food that had a recall issued for it. Now the government is advising that families try to avoid eating Chicken from Fast-food resturants such as KFC, McDonalds, or Burger King. I believe that we should never put our lives in jeoparidy by a rumor.

Trimester #2 Class Blog

During Science Class we learned about the sun. We learned that the sun is made up of four levels. The core, radiative zone, Photoshpere, Chromosphere are the four levels. There are also many diffrent components that go into the sun. Sunspots, and solar flares are just some examples. THe sun is the cente rof our solar system and earth would be ddead with out it.

Class Event #2

During science class we learned about Chromosomes and how they determine your height, weight, gender, hair and much more. There are 23 chromosomes in each sex cell that you get from your parents, 23 chromosomes in the sperm and 23 chromosomes in the egg. After fertilization there are 46 chromosomes in each body cell.

Current Event #3:

The ozone layer is depleting before our eyes and it is all because of us. The ozone layer resides within the stratosphere. Ozone is a colorless, irritating gas that smells something like a burning spark plug. Our ozone layer has a gaping hole in it because of all the pollution leaving man-made factories. The ozone layer is depleting because of humans. We are also the cause of sun spots and extremely dry climates. If you have an idea to try and stop the ozone layer from being destroyed completely, then leave a comment.

In science class we are learning about extracting D.N.A. We extracted D.N.A. from strawberry juice, pea juice, and onion juice. I learned that D.N.A. looks like a slimy piece of hair. We also learned that the make up of your D.N.A. even determines the color of your hair.
